Celebrating Harvest - earth, fire, water and air

Fareham United Reformed Church celebrated Harvest on Sunday 27th September 2015, in words, music, flowers - reflecting on the fruits of God's creation, and the powerful elements of earth, fire, water and air.

Contributions will be shared across a range of individuals and organisations - including congregation members who are housebound, a local refuge and the Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank.

The previous evening saw a full church hall enjoying a Harvest Quiz Night, with a free will offering with proceeds of £150, which will be presented to our local charity Portsmouth Churches Housing Association.

Maasai Warriors come to Fareham...

Tribal song and dance isn’t what you’d normally expect to see when you walk into a church building in Fareham is it? But that’s exactly what will be happening when the Osiligi Maasai Warriors visit Fareham United Reformed Church on Thursday 1 October at 7.30pm.

The seven-piece group comes from the village of Oleopolos and surrounding communities in southern Kenya, around 30 miles south of Nairobi. They perform authentic and exciting Maasai tribal song and dance plus the world-famous Maasai leaping.

The Warriors came to Holy Trinity Church, Fareham three years ago and were a smash hit and we're so looking forward to welcoming them to the town again. We feel it’s an amazing opportunity to get a real insight into a traditional African culture.

They have been touring the UK annually since 2004 and these tours have helped to raise awareness and build bridges between Christians and others in this country, and the Maasai in Kenya.

The funds raised have helped them improve their housing although it is still very simple, brought clean water to their community, provided a new church building, a new clinic and a new community school. They have also been able to swap kerosene lamps for solar powered ones.

This really is an opportunity not to be missed and w would really encourage you to come along if you are able.

The troupe will also be selling crafts and other items to raise additional funds.

Tickets £10 (adults)/£8 (concessions)/ £5 (child or student)/ £20 (family ticket - 2 adults and 2 children) are available from the box office on 01329 237127, by emailing or online at

And if you’re not able to make the date in Fareham don’t worry there will be another opportunity to see the Warriors on Saturday 3 October at Hamble Memorial Hall, also at 7.30pm. Tickets for that performance are available on 02380 440660.
