Go Wild! Holiday Club

Go Wild! That's what the young people of Fareham were invited to do when our second annual Holiday Club took place in August 2017. Following on from the success of last year's 'Super Hero' theme, Christians Together in Fareham (CTiF) with the help of Phil Crathorne of 'Life Kids' hosted a Jungle themed week called 'Go Wild!' across Fareham United Reformed Church, Fareham Methodist Church and Holy Trinity buildings.

Between 14th and 18th August, almost 70 children gathered for fun packed mornings hearing about some of the wild things that we read about Jesus doing in the Bible such as turning water into wine and healing a blind man by rubbing mud in his eyes.

Each day there were three different activities. Amongst them were remote-controlled cars, sports, 'Wild Science', a bouncy castle and 'Jungle Foods'. We also sang songs together, children went head to head in the 'Power Tank' to see who could collect the most silver tickets in 30 seconds. The 'Power Tank' also doubled up as a water tank and the children voted which adult leader got soaked at the end of the day! We enjoyed a cooked lunch together too.

One child said 'I wasn't sure if I would enjoy this week as I have never been before, but each day just got better and better'. A parent said 'As soon as my children got home they would not stop talking about how much fun they had'.

An important part of the life of the church is to build community and this week saw that in action. It was great to see adults from our churches coming together to offer their own individual skills to make it such a great week. With many family days out costing money, this week is perhaps the only time in the whole of the Summer holidays that some of the children will get to enjoy such things. Thanks to Christians Together in Fareham, The Prices Trust and M Coghlans who supported this week financially, we were able to keep the cost of the week down to £5 per child.

For Fareham United Reformed Church as part of Christians Together in Fareham it was so good to be able to bring together people of all ages and backgrounds to have fun together.
