Easter 2015 - Yes, good exists! Jesus Christ is risen!

He is Risen 2015He is Risen 2015
Loving God,
as we ponder the world and all its ills,
places despoiled by violence, exploitation, injustice,
we are bound to ask: Does good exist?

Healing God,
as we read or watch the news,
people downtrodden, humiliated and scarred,
we are bound to ask: Does good exist?

Liberating God
as we see the earth and its beauty threatened,
forests uprooted, fields built upon and rivers polluted,
we are bound to ask: Does good exist?

Living God -
yes, good exists!
The empty Cross cries out with hope and joy.
Jesus Christ died and rose again,
showing us a way to live.

So, let us rise with Christ
to conquer the ills of the world,
bring relief where there is distress,
peace where there is none,
and joy beyond all joy.
Amen

Reflection for Holy Week

Welcome to Matthew Fowler

Family of Matthew Miles Fowler joined in our morning family service to celebrate his baptism on Sunday 12th January 2014.

Fareham United Reformed Church remembers...

Remembrance Day Flowers 2013Remembrance Day Flowers 2013
God our Father
You have been our help in the past
You are our hope for the future
and we praise you.

In the storms of our personal lives
and of national life
Ultimately we have come home to you
and found you, waiting with arms outstretched in welcome,
and we praise you.

You existed before time began
and when all things are complete
You’ll still be there.
And yet you care for every hair on the head
Of every girl and boy, man and woman
On the face of the planet,
Whatever their country or colour or creed,
However good or bad they may be.
and we praise you.

On this Remembrance Sunday
We ask you, Father, to help us remember
Those who have died in wars between your children
Fighting for what they believed to be right.
Help us to think about those families who lost loved ones
and for whom today is a day
Full of memory and meaning.
Help us to use the freedom in which we live now
To strive day after day after day
To build a better, more loving and caring world,
So that those who died
May not have died in vain.

We ask this in the name of Christ
who gave up his life because he loved the world so much.

Amen

Harvest For All

We thank you, Lord, for our world
with all its rich and wonderful variety,
for your gift of life
constantly being renewed by your loving hand,
for all that you have made to grow and flourish around us,
all that provides our food and clothing,
all the bountiful resources of our astonishing planet.

You have blessed us in so much:
help us to respond.

We thank you, Lord, for those to whom we owe this harvest -
workers on farms and in agriculture,
sailors and fishermen who risk their lives on the seas,
miners and engineers who help supply the raw materials for industry,
scientists and technicians who help develop better crops,
employees in shops and factories who labour to satisfy our demands.

You have blessed us in so much:
help us to respond.

Living Lord, help us to appreciate all so many do
to bring us the fruits of creation,
and teach us the part we must play
in ensuring future generations can enjoy it in turn.
Teach us to use your gifts wisely, responsibly, effectively
so that nothing may be needlessly wasted
or foolishly squandered.

You have blessed us in so much:
help us to respond.

Help us to remember, Lord, those who do not share equally
in the rewards of harvest -
those people who are poor and hungry,
those who have been forced to leave their home,
those overwhelmed by disaster,
and those whose crops have failed.
At all times, save us, we pray,
from thinking only of our own comfort
and ignoring their needs.
Inspire us to share from our plenty with all who cry out for help.

You have blessed us in so much:
help us to respond.

Living Lord, you have provided beyond our needs,
enough for all in every place
to have enough and more than enough.
Forgive us that some still go hungry,
and forgive our part within that.
Stir our hearts so that we may challenge
the consciences of governments and nations,
until the time comes at last
when your gifts are shared and enjoyed by all.

You have blessed us in so much:
help us to respond.

Puppets in the Pulpit!

Praizin' Hands Puppet GroupPraizin' Hands Puppet Group

On Sunday 14th July 2013, Fareham URC Junior Church's Anniversary was celebrated in style, with the service being led by puppets - thanks to the Praizin' Hands Puppet Group from Cornerstone URC, Hythe. The service told the story of Noah’s Ark and young and old were transfixed as Noah responded to God's call to 'Stock the Boat' with creatures of all shapes and sizes, and was strong in faith as 'Raindrops Keep Falling on My Boat'.

The Praizin' Hands group was set up in 2003 as part of the 1st Hythe Girls' Brigade. Originally formed for the older girls within the company, interest has grown and there are now three puppet teams reaching out into the community.

Puppets are non-threatening, making them an ideal tool to share God's love with people of all ages. Praizin' Hands use professional puppets and all puppeteers attend weekly training.
