Messy church

Junior worship and fellowship

Junior Church takes place every Sunday morning and is open to all ages. Young people and children take part in the beginning of morning worship and then join in age-related groups for a variety of activities.

Families with babies and pre-school children are welcome to sit anywhere in the sanctuary, or in the safe area at the back of the church, so that everyone can participate in worship. Soft play bags are available for the very young.

Fun for Under Fives (FfUFs) runs every Monday morning in term-time for pre-school children and accompanying adults. The session includes play, craft activities, story time, songs and a prayer.

Messy Church is normally held on the first Monday of school holidays except Bank Holidays. All ages are welcome, accompanied by an adult. A fun morning, including a variety of craft activities, a short time of worship, and a light lunch.  The next Messy Church event is on Friday, 29th May, between 10 am and 12 noon. There is no charge for Messy Church, but to help with catering, please let us know you are coming by text - 0748 472 7777 - before Monday, 25th May (Spring Bank Holiday).

For further details, contact secretary@farehamurc.org.uk who will pass on your query to the relevant co-ordinator.

Our prayers this month

Every week pray for our Church Officers, Elders, all who lead worship, those who provide and show the PowerPoint and work the camera and microphones, those who provide music during times of worship, those who prepare the flowers and those who provide welcome and hospitality.

Prayer for Growth: God of Mission,  who alone brings growth to your church,  send your Holy Spirit to give vision to our planning, wisdom to our actions,  joy to our worship  and power to our witness.  Help our church to grow in numbers  and in spiritual commitment to you  and in service to our local community.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

10th – 16th May Christian Aid Week

To ponder: The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. (Acts 17:24, NIV)

  • Give thanks for the work of Christian Aid and their partners.
  • Pray for all who support this work by giving, acting and praying together.
  • A prayer for Christian Aid Week 2026 Gracious God, when we stand on the plains of uncertainty, with no path before us, we look to you. We remember what you have done before and our anxious hearts are comforted. Showing mercy, you delivered us then; in your love and faithfulness, you will do it again. Give us the strength to step forward in hope. Give us faith that changes us, hope that feeds us, love that moves us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

17th – 23rd May

To ponder: Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7, NIV)

  • Give thanks for all that reminds us of God’s mighty hand in creation.
  • Pray for all who are anxious and worried – those who are taking examinations and having to make decisions about their future.
  • Loving Lord, whatever the coming days may bring, give us the strength to be faithful to you.

24th – 30th May

To ponder: There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. (I Corinthians 12:4)

  • Give thanks for the gifts that God has given to the congregation of our church.
  • Pray for the Messy Church families and volunteers as they meet on Friday, 29th May.
  • Spirit of God, fill us with your love.

31st May – 6th June

To ponder: But Moses replied, ‘Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put his Spirit on them! (Numbers 11:29)

  • Give thanks for all who preach and teach God’s word.
  • Pray for one another, families, friends, church and community.
  • Father God: be with us, wherever we go.
Jesus: be with us, whatever we do.
Holy Spirit: be with us, always.
