Messy church

Junior worship and fellowship

Junior Church takes place every Sunday morning and is open to all ages. Young people and children take part in the beginning of morning worship and then join in age-related groups for a variety of activities.

Families with babies and pre-school children are welcome to sit anywhere in the sanctuary, or in the safe area at the back of the church, so that everyone can participate in worship. Soft play bags are available for the very young.

Fun for Under Fives (FfUFs) runs every Monday morning in term-time for pre-school children and accompanying adults. The session includes play, craft activities, story time, songs and a prayer.

Messy Church is normally held on the first Monday of school holidays except Bank Holidays. All ages are welcome, accompanied by an adult. A fun morning, including a variety of craft activities, a short time of worship, and a light lunch.  The next Messy Church event is on Friday, 29th May, between 10 am and 12 noon. There is no charge for Messy Church, but to help with catering, please let us know you are coming by text - 0748 472 7777 - before Monday, 25th May (Spring Bank Holiday).

For further details, contact secretary@farehamurc.org.uk who will pass on your query to the relevant co-ordinator.

Worship at Fareham United Reformed Church

The main service of worship is held each Sunday at 10.30am. The service is a family service and all ages are welcome.

Our worship of the church is lively, varied and inclusive. Members of the congregation take part in the worship by reading the Bible lessons and from time to time in leading intercessions.

There is a choir and a music group who take part in worship. The main hymn books used are Mission Praise, Rejoice & Sing and The Source, but a variety of other material is used and welcomed by the congregation.

Projection facilities are used during all services, to display the words to hymns and Bible readings and all regular services of worship are streamed via Zoom.

Fareham creche

We have a fully equipped creche

The creche is available for babies and pre-school children. Similarly, the members of the Junior Church usually leave the main service for activities suitable for a variety of age groups and children or young people attending will be given a warm welcome. Please contact us regarding activities for children and young children.

The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) is celebrated during the service on the 3rd Sunday Morning each month. The invitation to participate is from the Lord Jesus Christ and all including children of all ages are welcome and are included in the celebration.  Congregation members are encouraged to provide their own elements, when joining worship via Zoom.

The church takes a full part in ecumenical services with the other member churches of Christians Together in Fareham, details of which will be published on this website.  These include:.

  • Week of Prayer for Christian Unity - third Sunday of January each year
  • World Day of Prayer - first Friday of March each year
  • Good Friday Walk of Witness - an open air service held at the Podium in Fareham Town Centre each year
  • Songs of Praise - normally at or around Pentecost and Harvest
  • Christmas Carols - carol singing at the Podium in Fareham Town Centre at a Saturday in December

Our prayers this month

Every week pray for our Church Officers, Elders, all who lead worship, those who provide and show the PowerPoint and work the camera and microphones, those who provide music during times of worship, those who prepare the flowers and those who provide welcome and hospitality.

Prayer for Growth: God of Mission,  who alone brings growth to your church,  send your Holy Spirit to give vision to our planning, wisdom to our actions,  joy to our worship  and power to our witness.  Help our church to grow in numbers  and in spiritual commitment to you  and in service to our local community.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Give us the strength to step forward in hope. Give us faith that changes us, hope that feeds us, love that moves us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  • Give thanks for all who preach and teach God’s word.
  • Pray for one another, families, friends, church and community.
