Junior worship and learning activities

Junior Church is offered each Sunday morning. Young people join in the morning worship, and then join a small group for age-appropriate activities. A creche is available for babies and pre-school children.

Fun for Under Fives (FfUFs) runs every Monday morning in term-time, attended by a regular group of children and their carer. Play, craft activities, story time, songs and a prayer.

Messy Church is normally held on the first Monday of school holidays. The morning begins in the sanctuary with a short talk, usually a video and an action song to introduce the theme. Then a range of craft activities are organised in the hall. A game is played before food is served, and the session ends with our Messy Church song. The next Messy Church meeting is Monday 4th April at 9.30am.

Parent Free Zone Youth Group

Every month we hold PFZ (Parent Free Zone) Youth Group on the second Sunday of the month between 5.00pm and 7.00pm, on behalf of Christians Together in Fareham.

At the beginning of the evening the young people choose to play a range of table games, table football, table tennis or air hockey. A cooked meal is provided, and they enjoy a time of fellowship together before a short time of reflection in the sanctuary.

An enjoyable time for young people from local churches to meet together for fun, faith and friendship.

Safeguarding

Safeguarding is the action taken to promote and protect the well-being and human rights of individuals. This includes the promotion of the safety and welfare of children and adults who are at risk of, or experiencing harm, abuse or neglect in any form and their right to protection.

Safeguarding is underpinned by Jesus’ command to his followers to “love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34-35).

We are committed to safeguarding in every area of our church's life and ministry. This means we will:

Do all we can to create and maintain a safe and caring environment for all people.
Respond promptly and effectively to any form of abuse and neglect, including reporting abuse to statutory agencies when necessary.
Seek to prevent abuse in any form from occurring. We will seek to identify individuals who may pose a risk to others and take necessary actions to minimise risk whilst supporting these individuals in our communities when safe to do so.

Every week pray for our Church Officers, Elders, all who lead worship, those who provide and show the PowerPoint and work the camera and microphones, those who provide music during times of worship, those who prepare the flowers and those who provide welcome and hospitality.

23 February-1 March

To ponder: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. (Psalm 95:1, NIV)

Give thanks for the gift of memory and the joy of remembering, for the memories we share and pictures that fill our minds.
Pray for those losing their memories, for the frustration and fear that they feel.
Pray for those caring for relations who have lost their memories, that they may have patience and understanding.
Father, make us aware of the needs of others and of the dignity of life at every stage

2–8 March

To ponder: I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:14, NIV)

7th March is the World Day of Prayer
Give thanks for Christians in the Cook Islands who have prepared the 2025 World Day of Prayer materials.
Pray for women and girls who are vulnerable in our societies; pray that young women will have the education, aspiration and vision to develop a promising future.
Pray that women who are experiencing domestic violence will have strength, courage and patience.
Father, remind us that we are your children, that you shaped all of us in a unique way, that you know us and that you love us unconditionally (prayers adapted from the World Day of Prayer materials.)

To ponder: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. (Revelation 3:20, NIV)

Ecumenical Lent Groups begin this week
Give thanks that God is always there for you, even when you wander from the path of love and truth, God never leaves you or lets you down.
Pray for those who are depressed and despairing; those whose plans and dreams have come to nothing; those tormented by doubts, fears and temptations.
'Fast from hurting words and say kind words. Fast from sadness and be filled with gratitude. Fast from anger and be filled with patience. Fast from worries and have trust in God. Fast from words and be silent so you can listen.' (from Pope Francis, 2017)

16-22 March

To ponder: Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9, NIV)

Give thanks for those who work in the police force, as prison officers or in the courts, who uphold the law and keep us safe.
Pray for those members of the emergency services who have respond to acts of violence or terrorism; for those suffering from PTSD and for those who seek to help them.
Lord, in our weakness be our strength, in our despair be our hope.

23-29 March

To ponder: God’s there, listening for all who pray, for all who pray and mean it. (Psalm 145:18, The Message)

Give thanks for the campaigners who make us remember the hungry, the lonely and the poor.
Pray for the fair and wise distribution of the world’s resources, for charities and NGOs that work to bring relief to places where food is short – the World Food Programme, Christian Aid, Oxfam and others.
Lord, help us to serve you in ways that bring hope to others and praise to your name.

30 March-5 April

To ponder: ‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (Isaiah 54:10, NIV)

30th March is Mothering Sunday
Give thanks for the work of the URC’s Children’s and Youth Development Officers, especially for Ruth, one of the two CYDOs for Wessex, who is leading our worship this week.
Pray for those who show kindness; those who go the extra mile and turn the other cheek; those who have helped others to value themselves and renew their hope in you.
Pray for those who were there when you needed them and who stood by you when others let you down.
Lord, the source of all kindness, fill the earth with your love.
